![]() ![]() Start with a candle, and we might graduate to a torch, but I would really hesitate to do that yet - too big a chance of me screwing up the barrel temper or the front sight. Recoil control: 2. ![]() The muzzle was never threaded it's not that it was threaded and the threads turned down. ![]() He's got a post-ban SA M7 Carbine with a plain, unthreaded muzzle. Weight: 103 grams (3.6 oz) Length: 81.59 mm (3.21) Price: 70. 1 A friend of mine asked me to post this thread. Whatever you do, do it gently and do it easy to avoid screwing up your AK. In this video were comparing how much of a difference a muzzle brake makes on muzzle rise, on our AK-47 vs. The winner of this competition will be put against another 5 muzzle devices in our future episodes. Spray the brake and fitting and let it sit overnight before applying heat or pressure. WD-40 is an OK penetrator, but PB Blaster, Torch, Liquid Wrench or BreakFree is much better. It you are willing to damage the brake, clamp a pair of vise-grips to it (the brake), and then gently tap the vice-grips with a small hammer while applying heat. The threads on the AK and the brake are the opposite of normal. Depress the pin, and turn the brake clockwise carefully to loosen it. When you apply heat gently to the brake (the female end of the fitting) it will expand, as well as soften any adhesive. Ive heard the arguments against this, and how you dont need one for this caliber. My bet is it is just very frozen, but I could be wrong. Want to install muzzle brake on my 308 win rifle that has a non-threaded barrel. I don't know that epoxy would make it ban compliant. Muzzle threads are situated at the muzzle end of the barrel and can be used for mounting accessories such as a flash hider, suppressor or muzzle brake (compensator). It might have been welded to make it ban compliant, but I can see no evidence of a weld. Machined from high strength steel then sent off to have a black oxide finish, this muzzle break is threaded in 1/2-28 RH so it will fit may ARs and our ak. The standard size for the threads on the barrels of all AK-47, AKM, and RPK rifles is 14x1mmLH. Now that you know the diameter of your barrel you can choose the correct size die and muzzle brake. Recoil control: 2.I don't know that epoxy would have been used since it already has a pin. Which may seem too large in diameter to thread with a 1/2' die but due to the built in tolerances of dies and taps works just fine. The winner of this competition will be put against another 5 muzzle devices in our future episodes. We have also collected all the data, like physical measurements, weight and prices to give you better whole picture of the subject. In that sense, they are apparently easier and faster to remove and put back. 500, you can do 1/2x28 RH (AR thread), CNC Warrior sells a ton of muzzle devices for AK's in that thread pattern. To start off, clamp-on muzzle brakes can be installed without the need to modify the barrel of your gun. Some, like TacOps, prefer more shoulder engagement. 550 muzzle you can do standard 14x1 LH, if it's one of the ones that had the threads turned off and is now a little over. 0.750' is not a thick barrel, and there wont be much shoulder when threaded 5/8x24. Our non scientific test is based on 3 main events: so called “dark room test” to measure flash hiding capabilities side pressure wave test to measure impact on operators in close proximity to the muzzle device and finally muzzle climb test, which was very subjective test based on quick shooting of 3 rounds on target. You need to have some shoulder, to shoulder up muzzle brakes, suppressors, etc. Recently we have tested first 6 AK muzzle devices in order to find the best one. The slants on 1/2x28 are out there but I have one if you cannot find another to purchase. If there is no suitable clamp or twist-on muzzle brake for your weapon, you can ask a gunsmith to make threads on your barrel Caliber: The caliber stated with a muzzle brake / compensator is the maximum allowed caliber. Limited in that respect but looks like original. For the clamp muzzle brake you need to measure the diameter of the barrel very carefully. This is recap from our Video – Episode 3 Muzzle Devices (Part 1). You can normally thread a Maadi turned down muzzle to 1/2x28 LH threads and use a slant brake that is identical to the 14/1 type. ![]()
